Oktoberfest Tent

It’s deep inside the Oktoberfest Tent where lasting memories are born. The mammoth 3,500-square-metre structure is complete with bunting, music and merrymaking, creating an electric atmosphere which makes it very easy to embrace your inner German.

The Main Stage hosts a line-up of entertainment which makes it obvious why Oktoberfest Brisbane has become Australia’s largest German Festival. Here’s a taste of what’s in store.

‘Münchner Buam’ – Bavarian Oompah band

You know it’s an important occasion when the band makes a special trip from Bavaria to entertain the crowds, here in Brisbane, Australia. Rainer and his six-member folk band, Münchner Buam, are once again lighting up the main stage with traditional and modern classics like ‘In München steht ein Hofbräuhaus’, ‘Anton aus Tirol’, and ‘Flligerlied’.

Yodeller Heidi

Listen to the incredible sound of yodeller Heidi, who is returning to the festival with her talent that takes you to the treetops of Germany’s mountains. Share the fun with your friends as you get involved in the crowd sing-a-long.

Alpenrosen Dance Group

Marvel at the Alpenrosen Dance Group as they perform traditional dances from Upper Bavaria and Tyrol including the Shoe-Slapping {Schuhplattler} and the Ringing of the Cowbells {Kuh Glocken}. It’s hard not to want to get involved and try your luck at some traditional German dance moves!

Miss Oktoberfest Brisbane

Every festival has a favourite ‘Fräulein’, but this isn’t a beauty contest. Ladies, don your Dirndl and get ready for some rather unusual judging criteria. In order to become the coveted Miss Oktoberfest Brisbane 2017, you’ll need to show off your strength, fashion sense and German knowledge – all while milking a cow. And there’ll be no crying over spilt milk! Find out more HERE. Proudly sponsored by Schnucki Dirndl + Lederhosen, the Oktoberfest Brisbane official supplier of Dirndl and Lederhosen.

Bavarian Strongmen

It’s the ultimate test of German ‘life skills’, with the popular Bavarian Strongmen competition rewarding the three-man team which can master a raft of Olympic-style tasks. The event promotes fierce rivalry between teams as their talent and skill is under strict scrutiny across challenges including keg rolling and ‘Krapfen’ (jam donut) eating. Don’t miss this. Judged by our very own King of Cakes and German Sausage Hut. Find out more HERE
