Miss Oktoberfest Brisbane 2019 was a highlight of the first Festival weekend, with Brisbane’s bravest ladies competing for the title. Drawing from their inner Germans, the ladies were challenged with everything from stein holding to pretzel tossing, bringing their best for the cheering crowds. Then it was the boys’ turn to do Brisbane proud, with teams of three battling through 6 rounds of competitive fun to take out the title of Bavarian Strongmen 2019! These rounds quickly became a crowd favourite with supportive spectators cheering from the sidelines, encouraging the men as they face-planted doughnuts and pulled their weight in tug of war. The winning team dug deep to be crowned the winners for the fourth year in a row! Congratulations to ‘Ze Fritzels’ on maintaining their title!

The festival fun continued with Oktoberfest Brisbane’s first trivia competition, The Big German Quiz – drawing crowds of competitors to the Oktoberfest tent, eager to win the prizes on offer! After a night of Bavarian brainstorming, the lucky winners walked away with $500 in their pockets and smiles from ear to ear – and we don’t blame them!

Although the team was devastated that we had to hang up our Dirndls and Lederhosen for 2020, we’d like to thank everyone who came along and made Oktoberfest Brisbane 2019 one to remember. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the gates in 2021 to pick up where we left off celebrating all things German. We can’t wait to see you there – prost!
